Best of Brussels — Nutrition in Critical Care
14th Annual Conference — “Best of Brussels” (ISCCM Pune Branch × ISICEM)
A Continuing Medical Education session co-organised by IDA Pune and Nucgnex, attended by practising dietitians, clinical nutritionists, and students from SNDT College. Ambika presented a structured overview of post-bariatric nutritional challenges — dumping syndrome, micronutrient deficiencies (B12, Iron, Calcium, Vitamin D), protein malnutrition, and the psychological relationship with food after surgery. The session included case studies and an interactive protocol review for dietitians managing bariatric patients.
Why it matters
Bariatric surgery is becoming more common in India, but nutritional follow-up post-surgery is often inadequate. Most complications — hair loss, fatigue, weight regain — are entirely preventable with the right dietary protocol. This CME addressed the knowledge gaps that lead to those complications.
